Welcome to the 7th International Congress of Experimental Archaeology (2025) ! We are thrilled to invite you to the 7th edition of the Congress, taking place in the historic city of Liège from October 22 to 25, 2025.
The CONEXP conferences bring together researchers from various thematic backgrounds working on past societies, from the Palaeolithic to historical periods, including technologists, traceologists, archaeozoologists, and many others. Held every three years, these conferences have an international dimension and are dedicated to the exchange of ideas and experiences centered on archaeological experimentation. Particular emphasis is placed on young researchers, encouraging them and providing a platform to share their work and interact with established experts in the field.
Archaeological experimentation, at the heart of these meetings, allows for testing hypotheses about the techniques and lifestyles of ancient societies by reproducing their actions and knowledge. These experiments are crucial for a deep understanding of ancient practices and for validating archaeological interpretations. Additionally, significant importance is given to public outreach. The CONEXP conferences include activities and presentations accessible to non-specialists, aiming to popularise the discoveries and methods of archaeological experimentation. These outreach efforts help raise public awareness of the importance of archaeology and strengthen the connection between scientific research and society.
